Drake drops 'War' on Christmas Eve, acknowledges feuds in snowy music video

Drake is letting bygones be bygones this season.

The 33-year-old Canadian rapper released a gift for fans just in time for the holidays: a replacement song, titled "War," along side an accompanying snow-filled music video, shared just after midnight on Dec. 24. Drake skis and rides snowmobiles during a nighttime winter wonderland while sharing his gripes with shallow social media use ("You... spend an excessive amount of time on captions, not enough time on action") and hinting at feuds he's been bound up in over the years.

"Everyone i do know has code names, anyone I'm beefin' with may be a no name," he raps.

He seemingly reveals squashed beef with The Weeknd, a Canadian singer who's been compared to Jackson, by noting he "just had to repair things" with a fellow Canada native, "the boy that sound like he sang on 'Thriller.'"
The two are bound up in various squabbles over the years, last when rumors arose that Drake was involved model Bella Hadid, The Weeknd's ex-girlfriend.

"I want my baby to possess your eyes/ I'm going against my very own advice/ Should I do New York? i can not decide/ Fashion week is more your thing than mine," he rapped in his last album, 2018's "Scorpion." Hadid told fans on social media they were just friends.

The new song, created as a neighborhood of a multi-artist mixtape, doesn't appear to be pegged to an upcoming album. Drake told fans earlier this month during an appearance at a DaBaby show he was performing on finishing his next album "so we will happen in 2020."
